In a recent interview with VUTTAtv GAZET(VG) our sister publication , Teko, a passionate soccer fan from Daveyton, shared his thoughts on the beautiful game. From his favorite player to his beloved team, Teko's love for soccer is undeniable.
When asked about his favorite soccer player of all time, Teko quickly replied, "Federico Valverde, because he can score, defend, and assist – he's a very mobile player." Teko's admiration for Valverde's versatility on the field is a testament to his own passion for the game.
Teko's most memorable soccer match was an entertaining game between Amaten Ten and Garden Village at Mabuya Ground. "It was a very entertaining game with lots of goals," he recalled.
As a devoted fan of Mamelodi Sundowns, Teko praised the team's style of play and winning mentality. When asked about the team's current performance, Teko expressed his optimism, saying, "I'm feeling good about my team's performance."
If he could attend any soccer match in history, Teko would choose the Nedbank Cup final between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates. "Just to see Themba Zwane and Tito Maswanganyi – too much quality," he exclaimed.
Teko's favorite soccer formation is 4-2-1-3, which he believes allows for more attacking opportunities. "We have lots of numbers when we attack, which means we can create lots of goal-scoring opportunities," he explained.
To stay up-to-date with soccer news and updates, Teko relies on his WhatsApp. When asked about his preferred position on the field, Teko confidently replied, "As an number 10, because I can create scoring opportunities and I can score also."
Teko believes that the biggest challenge facing soccer today is the emphasis on money over talent. "They don't care about the talent anymore; all they want is money," he lamented.
Despite this challenge, Teko remains optimistic about the future of soccer. "The future of soccer is still going to be there, and it's still going to be fun and entertaining, because there are young players that are still coming with lots of potential, entertaining, and playing good football."
